We take pride in running Gyre with sustainable manufacturing, packaging, materials and labor. We operate ethically and conscious of our impact to the environment from when we receive an order, to when you receive your Gyre swimwear; end-to-end.
At the end of the day, the earth is what we are leaving our loved ones with.
We believe that our sustainable future is made possible with innovative thinking, sustainable consumables and processes, and environmentally positive choices in all areas of our everyday lives.
Therefore, we pioneer conscious on - demand manufacturing, using recycled materials and pay close attention to making every single detail of the highest quality - from recycled ocean plastic thread fabrics to biodegradable delivery satchels.

All our swimwear is handmade here in Australia by either Elena, in her Perth studio, or, when demand is too big for one person to handle, we partner with the small family run atelier, located in NSW, who specialize in ethically making swimwear for the past 15 years.

We are proud to use eco - friendly fabrics, supplied from Italy, in all our garments, including printed patterns, single colour designs and even linings.

ECONYL® yarn, our core material, is a 100% regenerated nylon yarn derived from pre- and post industrial waste such as discarded fishing nets, carpet fluff (the top part of Nylon carpets which have got to the end of their useful life), tulle etc.: all such materials, once they have reached the end of their useful life, instead of being disposed of in the landfill, are recovered and regenerated by means of a complex chemical-physical process. But do not let complexity of the process mislead you - in fact, it uses up to 90% less water than manufacturing of virgin nylon does.

All designs are printed on the fabrics here in Australia. Using only digital printing methods helps us to reduce water (compare to traditional rotary screen printing) and fabric wastage, giving us flexibility to produce only as much as needed. It also lets us support local printing business. Win-win.

Besides environmental positives, our materials not only provide luxurious silky feel, softness, and comfort, but also twice resistant to chlorine, suntans and oils, then regular swimwear fabrics.

Durability of the fabrics, carefully curated fit and timeless designs mean you could enjoy wearing your Gyre swimsuit for many seasons.

We want you to enjoy wearing your Gyre swimsuit for as long as possible, and pay great attention to each and every step of the manufacturing process to ensure it’s longevity. However, if your piece developed some wear or tear, we will be happy to offer repair, where possible. Please send us email to with description of the needed repair and a photo, and we will be in touch with you shortly.

Here at Gyre we care about decreasing environmental impact of our business every step of the way, and packaging process is no different.

To post out your orders, we use comPOST Packs- home compostable satchels, which are made from 100% biodegradable materials (starches such as corn husks, rice straw and wheat straw). Once received, just put it in with your food scraps and garden waste. It will break down within 90 days in a compost environment in a non-toxic process. Yes, they are fine in worm farms and will be broken down in a bokashi too.
